Views on the Book of Revelation: Futurist, Preterist, Historicist, Idealist - Which one?

David Kidd writing from Tauranga, New Zealand

I have been studying the different views on the book of Revelation as I have found it difficult to find a very satisfying one.

I am finding the Preterist view expressed by Kenneth Gentry very interesting and certainly more satisfying than the very popular futurist approach.

If you too have been seeking to understand the Book of Revelation you might enjoy looking at an approach that will be fresh to you.

Keep studying cautiously, as I am.

Tauranga - The bridge is out!

By David Kidd Church of God’s Love 7th day

If I saw you traveling in your car toward a bridge that was out and chose not to warn you you’d see me as uncaring or evil. So this article is to tell you the bridge is out!

Jesus’ horrible crucifixion and death should cause us to change our ways. The Bible tells us He was crucified for our sins, not His own. God graciously laid all of our sins on Him. He was our scapegoat providing us a way of escape.

Will we escape God’s coming judgment against sinners? Why would we if we continue to habitually do or approve of the sins Christ died for? The apostle Paul asks in Romans 6:1 “shall we continue in sin that grace may abound”? His answer was, “God forbid!”

There are several behaviours in this society the Bible clearly regards as sinful but which have gained widespread acceptability, including using foul or profane language, pornography, living together and/or having children before marriage, tax evasion, having idols (whether carved or not), drunkenness, looking at others lustfully, Sabbath desecration, just to name a few. Shall we continue in these or continue to approve of them and expect God to accept us? – God forbid.

The bridge to God is out because of our sins and sinful nature, but thank God, He’s provided a permanent bridge to Him – the cross of Christ. But we all must keep turning from our sins and live wholeheartedly for Christ if the death and resurrection of Christ we remember at this time of year is to be of any benefit to us at all.

English Conversation Classes in Tauranga

We have been holding English conversation classes during school term at 8 Atkins Way, Ohauiti, Tauranga (a private house) since about September last year. Classes are starting again in February 2018. There is a Tuesday class from 11:15, but we can have classes on other days if there are enough interested.

The classes give you a good chance to practice your English. We will try to keep the classes small, so you have a good chance to speak.

An optional English conversation Bible study follows the English conversation class.

The classes have been fun and a good social meeting for those who come both during and after class.
